Episode 090 Marnie Grundman, A Missing Child At 50
PART TWO
Imagine being dropped from a two story window by your own mother. I knew within the first few pages of MISSING: A True Story of A Childhood Lost by Marnie Grundman, 50, that I wanted her story featured on the podcast. How does a woman grow into a successful entrepreneur, artist, loving mother and grandmother and advocate after suffering such horrific abuse as a child?
Meet author Marnie Grundman, 50, who lived on the streets as a runaway from age 13 to 17. Her book, MISSING: A True Story of a Childhood Lost is her story of survival after escaping an upper middle-class home diseased with emotional dysfunction, abuse, mental illness and addiction. It is a story of suffering, of rising up against all odds and discovering an appreciation of life.
Like many empty nesters, Marnie discovered that she had buried her identity in motherhood. It was time to face her own childhood story, find meaning and purpose in it and advocate for young children who may fall victim to the many dangers of living on the street.
