E234 Lone Wolf – Social Butterfly with Tamara Bee
I admit to feeling a bit lame. Hearing Tamara Bee’s stories of hanging out with gorillas and Siberian tigers, hitching through Africa, yacht-hopping around the Caribbean, zip-lining through Central America… the stories never end, may make you wonder if you’ve really lived.
Sure, she started traveling as a teen, but she has continued her gritty travels into her 50s with a rare blood disorder, bad knees, and damaged hands. She suggests that if she’s going to be sick, why not be someplace interesting?
In this episode, you’ll learn why she prefers to travel alone, her advice to middle-aged folks who want to travel alone and on a budget, AND advice to parents of kids with that same sense of wanderlust.
Tamara Bee has been travelling the world predominantly as a solo woman for the last 30 years. She has been to 76 countries to date and travels via road or waterways on her epic road trips. She is a Canadian Brit who moved to the UK from Nairobi, Kenya in 1994 and lived there for over 20 years. This is where she obtained her Chinese Medicine degree. She now works in digital marketing after 22 years, she is now residing back in Canada.
She is documenting her solo female travels on her podcast, Many Roads Travelled:
