E148 Health Rebel – Holistic Practices with Dr. Nicki Steinberger
At 45, Nicki Steinberger was completely focused on the work of her doctoral dissertation in clinical psychology. Those around her knew she was sick, but Nicki ignored their concerns and her own symptoms of not feeling well, shaking, frequent urinating, and overwhelming fatigue; all signs of type 2 diabetes.
When she finally found her way to a doctor, she suspected what lay ahead. Indeed, two rounds of test confirmed that she had type 2 diabetes. As distressing as the diagnosis, was the approach of care from the medical practitioner. There was no discussion of the root cause(s), just a prescription to manage the symptoms.
Nicki never filled that prescription and has since been found to have beaten her diagnosis through a holistic approach that includes a commitment to a healthy diet, regular exercise, and tending to her self care of both mind and spirit.
Now 53, she is the creator of the Holistic Lifestyle Practice approach to reversing type 2 diabetes. Her book, Wave Goodbye to Type 2 Diabetes: 16 Holistic Lifestyle Practices To Prevent & Reverse Diabetes and Reclaim Joy, Vitality & Plenty, provides further detail on per personal story and actionable ways to improve your health and wellness – with or without diabetes. The book is endorsed by Dr. Christiane Northrup, M.D.
